Terror acts; will they ever end?

Today, all around the world we are affected by terrorism. No part of the world; be it the developed western world or the not so developed Asian region, the acts of terrorism are on the rise all the time. And despite of all the country's governments taking stringent measures to curb this menace; terrorists are almost striking at will and carrying on these gruesome acts of killing and violence.

What worries me is the materialistic attitude of the younger generation, and especially how for money they are ready to do everything. They are not bothered by the fact that something is good or bad,; if it can help them in making fast bucks, they would do that act. Most of these astray young men who become terrorists are lured into this world by the amount of money they are offered as well.

My point of view is, that
youths who are jobless, and have no respect in the society, are now being recruited in their ranks, And once they start attending the camps, they start leading a more confident and well bred life because of the money, which can also be called salary which these groups give them to give to their families as their monthly earning.

Imagine, just by joining a particulat group, the young boy who is offered a secured monthly wage; now starts earning the respect of his family as well as his friends. He is also able to boast of the guns and weapons that he handles everyday to the friends around him, who earlier used to mock at him; and now by telling them about his latest occupation, he earns their respect as well.

It is actually a slow but steady web that these group's bosses weave around these innocent teens; money looks very good initially, and money is what actually lures these teens into these dark alleys. ANd once they are driven deep into it, slowly and in a planned manner, there just seems no escape from the imminent.

A special assignment, which would open the doorway to heaven. They cannot refuse, because they have already put too much at stake. And the only path that is left for them is to do as the bosses say...

And Hope that God will greet them with open arms in heaven.

Lie, lie and more lie!

I think that the problem here is deeper, and should be addressed in the context of why people actually lie. The obvious reasons that come to mind can be that a person lies when he or she has committed some wrong doing and he/she wants to hide the act that might blemish his/her image in the social circle in which he/she is moving.

The other reason could be attributed to the double standards adopted by our society in general; where certain yardsticks are drawn to rate a social behavior as good, average, poor, excellent or outstanding. People are usually forced to lie when these yardsticks are not met; because they want to avoid the consequential criticism that almost seems imminent.

Just think! Celebrities & famous people have image management PR agencies to create or fabricate news that gives their public image a positive boost. Common men who idolize these celebrities carry those traits very easily in their everyday life; and especially when an awkward situation can be simply avoided by a plain false statement; then why one would take the trouble of speaking the truth and sully his reputation later on.

This entire materialistic world is actually a big fallacy. Those who go by its rules are successful; and those who go on beating the drum of truthfulness end up as jokers being laughed upon by all.

It is indeed a sad state of affairs my friend.

Travel! Enlighten yourself...

There is an age old story which my grandma used to narrate to me about a little frog, which lived in a well. This well was its habitat; the walls of the well were the frog’s world, and the little blue above peeping through the depths of the well was its only piece of sky. This was the frog’s universe; it could never see beyond it, because the walls of the well were too high.

One day, the area got flooded with water after incessant rain. The water inside the well also rose up, till it came to the well’s mouth. And the frog came out of its little world; and saw what it had never seen or imagined before. It was an entirely different world that the frog had been transferred to. A world where there were no walls; a world where there was ample sunlight. There was ample ground to jump around; and there were ample other frogs to meet and socialize. The frog was delighted to come out of its earlier confined world; this world was free; it was calling the frog to explore its stretching miles.

This story seems so relevant when you think about it in the context of those people who never travel out? Although, I agree that this frog had no TV or Internet surfing facility inside the well to keep it up to date with the entire world. But seeing something through transmitted signals and seeing with naked eye is altogether different. A person has to be there in all his 5 senses to really experience the exact feel of that place.

Traveling does exactly the same. It brings you face to face with the real thing in flesh and blood; not in virtual or a make-believe world. Travel can soak you knee-deep in the muddied waters of a stream; it can bring eye-popping phenomenon right in front of your eyes; it can make you walk right besides the clouds on a freezing hill town; it can make strangers look back with the warmest of affection in their eyes.

Traveling is great, because it is not just about you exploring the world; but also about the world exploring in you.
