Lie, lie and more lie!

I think that the problem here is deeper, and should be addressed in the context of why people actually lie. The obvious reasons that come to mind can be that a person lies when he or she has committed some wrong doing and he/she wants to hide the act that might blemish his/her image in the social circle in which he/she is moving.

The other reason could be attributed to the double standards adopted by our society in general; where certain yardsticks are drawn to rate a social behavior as good, average, poor, excellent or outstanding. People are usually forced to lie when these yardsticks are not met; because they want to avoid the consequential criticism that almost seems imminent.

Just think! Celebrities & famous people have image management PR agencies to create or fabricate news that gives their public image a positive boost. Common men who idolize these celebrities carry those traits very easily in their everyday life; and especially when an awkward situation can be simply avoided by a plain false statement; then why one would take the trouble of speaking the truth and sully his reputation later on.

This entire materialistic world is actually a big fallacy. Those who go by its rules are successful; and those who go on beating the drum of truthfulness end up as jokers being laughed upon by all.

It is indeed a sad state of affairs my friend.
